Dear LP Community,
It was wonderful seeing so many families connect with our dedicated teaching staff during yesterday's Parent-Teacher Interviews! Your partnership is vital. With midterm reporting just around the corner, now is a good time for students to fine-tune their organizational and study strategies. We strongly encourage students and parents to continue communicating with our amazing LP teachers for ongoing support and guidance as we head into the second half of the term.
As we head into the second week of November, I wanted to highlight an important message from our LP Music Department! Winter Musical takes place on Thursday, November 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lawrence Park CI Auditorium. The evening will feature performances by the Concert Band, Junior Band, Symphonic Strings, Junior Strings, Concert Choir, House Band, and Stage Band. Enjoy an evening of timeless classics and favourite pop tunes as we celebrate our talented student musicians. So please mark your calendars! The details are noted below:

Thank you to everyone who supported the Classics bake sale at Parent/Teacher interviews. It was a great success! If you love chocolate, then this is for you! Help support the Greece trip by ordering chocolate from Purdy's Chocolatier. Everything is made in Canada and packed with care at the Purdy's Vancouver chocolate factory. Orders must be placed by November 28 and will be ready for pick up from LP before the winter break- just in time for sharing winter cheer! New!: Gr. 10 OSSLT
The Semester 1 Fall administration of the Gr. 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) will be held on Wed. November 12 in the Library. It will be held in two sessions: morning and afternoon. Gr. 10 students who are currently in a Sem. 1 English class will write the OSSLT on that date. Also, any students who need to re-write the OSSLT, can do so. Successful completion of the literacy test is one of the requirements to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. An email was sent to all Semester 1 Gr. 10 students and families; please ensure that chromebooks are working and fully charged, in preparation for Wed. November 12.

New!: Student Council -- What is Charity Week?
Each year, the Student Council asks the Homeform Representatives to poll their classes to see which of the many worthy organizations the students wish to support during our Charity Week, scheduled for the week of November 17th to the 21st. There will be a kickoff assembly and each day will bring different fundraising events. On the final day, every Homeform class will run a booth in the gyms and students will be able to play games, accept challenges and eat delicious baked goods. This year, LP voted to support the Daily Bread Food Bank. Stay tuned for more information about tickets to participate in the many events and the Silent Auction.
New!: Student Council -- Charity week Silent Auction donations needed
The Student Council is working on a Silent Auction for our Charity Week. Please consider donating some items such as tickets, sports equipment, jewelry, and more. All proceeds of the sale will go to the Daily Bread Food Bank. We will be accepting donations until November 14th (the Friday before charity week begins.) Please contact Mme Benais at marie-helene.benais@tdsb.on.ca for more information or Carina Xu (Jr. Liaison Officer) at carina.xu@student.tdsb.on.ca to coordinate the dropoff or pick up of your donations. Math Extra Help
Math Extra Help is available for students on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:15 – 9:00 am in Room 316. This support is open to students from all grades and math courses.Students will have the opportunity to receive assistance from peer tutors as well as from Ms. Tello. We encourage all students to take advantage of this support to strengthen their skills and succeed in math.
Student Parking
Student parking will be available on a limited basis in our North Parking Lot. Prior to parking, student drivers must ensure that they have an LPCI Student Parking Pass. Parking passes can now be arranged at the Main Office beginning October 20, cost $50.00 using School Cash Online, and are non-transferable. Funds collected from parking fees will be used towards student transportation and excursion fees.
Student Council- Student Price Card (SPC) and Spirit Card Distribution
Thank you to the families who have already purchased a Student Price Card (SPC) and/or a Spirit Card and to the students who picked up their card prior to October 10th. SPC will continue to be available for purchase via Cash Online through to the end of October and Spirit cards may be purchased until the end of May. Students who have not yet picked up their cards should see Mme Benais at lunch in room 301.

It has been a busy first semester for our Music students. This week, students in the Repertoire course, along with other volunteer performers, showcased their talents at our annual Autumn Harmonies event in the auditorium. Their performances highlighted the creativity and dedication that continue to make our music community thrive. Check out our Instagram account @lpcimusic to see photos from the event.
New!: Faculty of Languages -- French contests and scholarship opportunities
The French teachers routinely advertise various French contests (essay, video, poetry, poster, public speaking, etc.) to their students. These opportunities not only contribute to increased skills and fluency, they also often lead to university bursaries, scholarships and expense-paid travel. Two more have been advertised. New!: Marks Maintain After - Full Disclosure Date
The Full Disclosure Date when marks will remain on the student's transcript is Thursday November 20th, 2025. Courses need to be dropped prior to this date to not have the achievement mark on the transcript.
Semester 1 Midterm Report Cards
Semester One Midterm report cards will be sent out to Parents/Guardians and Students via School Messenger on Nov 13th. Instructions on how to open the password protected files will be included in the message.
Please Pay SAC Fees
There are still many students who have not paid their Student Activity Fees. Please ensure you pay the SAC fee of $60.00 using School Cash Online. This fee covers a Student Card, Yearbook, and many student activities throughout the school year. If you haven't yet registered, please visit https://tdsb.schoolcashonline.com to get started.
Special Education and Inclusion Update
The Special Education and Inclusion Department is looking forward to supporting your child to have a rich and successful year at LP.
Please continue to return IEP Consultation Forms. All students that have an IEP received TWO copies of their IEP over the past two weeks. Please return 1 copy signed back to Room 111a @ LP ASAP for our records.
New Medical information (Psychological Assessments) will be reviewed at our monthly IST (In School Service) meetings. Parents/guardians will be contacted shortly afterwards by the Special Education Department regarding next steps.

Police Reference Check for Volunteers at LPCI
Please see the information on online direct/process with Toronto Police Service (TPS) since September 2023 in regards to any volunteer positions at Lawrence Park C.I.
Refer to process/guide for details which includes the web link and code, below also that was recently sent out to all schools;
Kindly provide the code to potential volunteers (i.e. Toronto residents as approved by your school) who are applying for their respective VSC directly with Toronto Police Services:

When sending the VSC/Level 3 please include the following declaration:
“I, (enter your full legal name) confirm the attached document is the scanned version of the original and it has not been altered in any way.”
Reporting An Absence
TDSB is offering a more efficient way for parents and caregivers to report all student absences, late arrivals, or future absences by using the School Messenger app. You can also report by calling the school messenger portal at 1-833-250-2290. All attendance being reported before 9:00AM must be done using School Messenger. You no longer need to call the school directly.
Attendance will be taken in each class. As always, student presence and active participation will lead to success.
Safe Arrivals calls home will be made during Period 1 for students who have not yet arrived at school. For lates and absences in Periods 2-4, Safe Arrivals calls will be made in the evening.
Please call the school office for all student absences or use the School Messenger App (more info in parent section of this newsletter). Students must sign out at the main office if they are leaving during school hours and must have permission from a parent/guardian if they are under 18 years old.
School Calendar and Vacation Planning 2025-26
The 2025-26 School Calendar is now available on the TDSB website. Please click here for PA day and holiday dates. Calendar items specific to Lawrence Park can be viewed on the main page of our school website linked here. A reminder that vacations are not considered a legitimate absence from instructional days or Exam days. Every effort should be made to avoid scheduling family vacations during school time. In the event of a missed evaluation due to a family vacation, teachers are not required to provide an alternative form of evaluation or Exam and a mark of zero may be assigned.

New!: The University of Toronto Saturday Program
The University of Toronto Saturday Program offers one on one tutoring, mentorship and enrichment workshops on Saturdays at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine. The program runs in person on Saturdays from January to April 2026. See their website for more information. Complete the form to register.

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Pathways to Post-Secondary Education and Skilled Trades webinar designed to support Black students and their families in learning more about diverse pathways beyond high school.
This session will highlight:
· Skilled trades as a valuable and meaningful post-secondary pathway
· Programs offered by participating partner institutions
· Services and supports available for students, including neurodiverse learners
This session will provide valuable insights as families explore options and prepare for the next steps after high school.

This scholarship recognizes superior academic ability, creative and original thinking, and proven leadership qualities. LP may nominate two candidates.
Deadline to submit a draft application, including reference letters to guidance, is November 25, 2025. Deadline to apply is December 8, 2025.
Note: Students applying for the Chancellor's Scholarship, must apply to Queen's by November 20th!

Peer tutor request - Peer tutors are also available for drop in sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays at lunch in Room 103.
Request a Guidance Appointment - Students are also welcome to drop in to guidance or email their counsellor directly.

All students have been invited to their grade’s Guidance Google Classroom. We will post information in your grade’s Google Classroom about volunteer opportunities, post-secondary pathways, scholarship opportunities, and more. Be sure to check it regularly.

Registration for the 2025/2026 Semester 2 e-Learning Day School will tentatively open on Wednesday, November 12 at 10 AM.

We’re kicking off our School Council Direct Donation Campaign to raise funds that will make a real difference in our students’ day-to-day LP experience. What YOUR donations made possible last year:
✅ Opened the Digital Innovation Spark Hub
✅ Contributions to the new library renovations and creation of a student wellness lounge
✅ Supported 12+ projects across academics, sports, music, arts, and clubs through our Student Enrichment Program
✅ Purchased a new portable PA system and personalized tent for home and away school events
