Next two weeks at a glance!
Administration Note
Dear LPCI Community:
I hope you and your family are well.
As we head into the final stretch of the school year, it is time for students to focus their energy on preparing for exams and final assessments. This is a crucial time to stay organized, prioritize tasks, and review material thoughtfully. Students should create a realistic study schedule, connect with teachers for clarification, and study in manageable chunks. This can help reduce stress and boost confidence.
But academic preparation is not the whole story. Taking care of your mental and physical well-being is just as important. Make sure to get plenty of rest, eat nutritious meals, and stay active. Balance is key.
The end of the year is about demonstrating all the growth and learning that has taken place over the last school year. Stay focused and remember that your efforts matter. You have come this far. Finish strong and take pride!
If you have any questions, please contact the school or reply to this email.
Have a great weekend,
Michael Griesz, Principal

New!: Grad Caps & Gowns Distribution & June 26th Grade 12 Final Farewell
Grad caps, gowns and tickets were distributed throughout the week to students attending Commencement. Anyone who did not pick up their gown can come to the guidance office on Monday, June 16 at 11:40AM or 3:15PM. Please note that students may keep their caps but are asked to return their gowns during the Grade 12 Final Farewell on June 26 between 9:30-11:30 AM. Students will pick up their diplomas, certificates, grad composites, and a special treat when they join us in the auditorium foyer that morning! Only graduates themselves will be able to pick up their items. Friends and siblings will not be permitted to pick up on behalf of the graduate.
New!: Return of Loaned Items
Please remember to return all loaned items (textbooks, technology, uniforms etc.) to your teachers, coaches, main office and library by the end of the exam period. Students who have not returned items will be asked to pay via School Cash Online.
New!: Student Council - June Spirit Day with Sunshine Therapy Dogs
The first Thursday of each month is a Spirit Day and the Student Council organizes a fun activity to help students relax, connect and take a break from their routines. For June, we were thrilled to welcome back Sunshine Therapy Dogs, a student favourite from previous years. With exams fast approaching, the event gave students an opportunity to unwind and recharge. Three wonderful therapy dogs visited LP, and many students enjoyed spending time with them in a welcoming environment. A big thank you to the Sunshine Therapy Dogs program and to LP's Wellness Council and the Staff Advisors, for generously providing tea during the event.https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1u5vST7hQszKk7gFY3_a0c7WGXmwfZ1J4?usp=drive_link
New!: Celebrating Young Entrepreneurs at U of T!
On June 4th, students who participated in the Entrepreneurship Grant Program and developed their own ventures throughout the school year were invited to a special Year-End Celebration and Showcase at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus.
Among the standout participants were Lawrence Park's Edward Marinescu and Charles Thompson, who proudly presented their innovative venture, Info Frames. Their presentation impressed U of T professors with its professionalism and polish—especially when they discovered that Edward and Charles are only in Grade 10!
Congratulations to Edward and Charles! Your hard work, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit have truly shone this year. We hope you’re proud of all you’ve accomplished and continue to pursue your exciting journey in entrepreneurship! Click the link below to view photos of Edward and Charles at U of T. EEP Photos
New!: O.K., K.O., O.K.!
Congratulations to Misha Buterin and Julian Lim for having their work included in an upcoming issue of O.K., K.O., O.K., a magazine of secondary student work published by the Urban Indigenous Education Centre. Both students were inspired by readings from Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass in Grade 11 NBE3U and explore themes of inter-relatedness and our relationship with the natural world. Misha’s work, "Blooming With Being", explores the animacy of the ‘other-than-human’ world by arranging flowers to emphasize subjecthood. Misha further explores how language shapes our thinking by including words for “flower” in various languages: Russian, Ukrainian, Cree, Inuktitut, Ojibwe, Wendat, and Potawatomi. Julian’s work, a series of photographs, is tied together by the thesis: “Our relationship with the land is a reciprocal bond that nurtures us as we nurture it.” His photographs, "Waste," "Reflection," and "Balance," explore our interconnectedness with the natural world and our responsibility to act in reciprocity with it. Both of their work can be seen in the front foyer display case. Congratulations! See following link: O.K., K.O., O.K. Misha Buterin & Julian Lim.

Chromebooks
If you are graduating LP this year and participated in the 1:1 Chromebook Distribution program in your Grade 9 year, you will be required to return your devices prior to graduation. Please drop off devices with charging cords to the main office starting Monday June 9th between the hours of 8:30-3:30. It is very important you complete the Chromebook return procedure prior to leaving LP.
June Exam Schedule
You can find the final exam schedule on our exam website. Please visit https://sites.google.com/tdsb.on.ca/lawrenceparkci/home and look under the ‘exam schedule’ tab. Please also see the ‘resources’ section for LPCI procedures and expectations on absences and missed exams. For a direct link to the June exam schedule, please see HERE. Please note: Grade 12 exams will take place the afternoons of June 16 and 17. Staff will be available to support other students through tutorials in the afternoon. Students who choose to study at home will be expected to check in with their teachers for afternoon attendance.
Moratorium Period - June 12-17, 2025
During the moratorium period of four school days prior to the scheduled final exam days, there will be no:
excursions;
projects or assignments for students writing an examination;
culminating activities for students writing an examination.
Homework that is considered to be part of the systematic review and examination preparation process (such as review quizzes, sample examination questions, or practice tests) and that do not count for marks, may be assigned during the moratorium period. If there are no scheduled written examinations in the subject, in-class culminating activities will continue during the moratorium.
Self-Service Password Reset
In an effort to protect TDSB student accounts and increase security, IT Services is requesting we advise all students to register for Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR). This tool allows students to reset their passwords at home or school anytime, using any device connected to the Internet, without the assistance of staff. The SSPR tool is only available to students in Grades 5 through 12. Many of you have not registered for SSPR. This video demonstrates how students can register for SSPR. Additional information on using SSPR is available on ServiceIT. If you have any questions with regard to this notification, please contact School Community IT Support for assistance with SSPR.

New!: School Calendar and Vacation Planning 2025-26
The 2025-26 School Calendar is now available on the TDSB website. Please click here for PA day and holiday dates. Please note that we will be scheduling final Exams and culminating activities for the 2025-26 school year in both January and June. A reminder that vacations are not considered a legitimate absence from instructional days or Exam days. Every effort should be made to avoid scheduling family vacations during school time. In the event of a missed evaluation due to a family vacation, teachers are not required to provide an alternative form of evaluation or Exam and a mark of zero may be assigned.
Special Education and Inclusion Newsletter Parents/Guardians - Month of June
Please see the June 2025 (Parent/Guardian) Special Education and Inclusion Newsletter. All newsletters for parents/guardians/caregivers can be found on the external TDSB site.
Absence from Exams and Final Evaluations
Absence from a Culminating Activity Evaluation:
Culminating activities are completed toward the end of a course and are part of the student’s 30% final evaluation. Culminating activities and examinations carry the same importance and the same attendance requirement. Thus, attendance during culminating activities is mandatory. Some courses have culminating activities that take place over several days.
If a student misses a culminating activity, the student will receive a mark of “0”. In the event that a student is too ill to complete a culminating activity, the parent/guardian must provide medical documentation of the illness. The parent/guardian is asked to contact the school before the culminating activity due date. The parent/guardian will be given the LPCI ‘Missed Evaluation’ Form to be completed by a medical doctor and submitted within two days of the missed culminating activity.
Family vacations are not considered excused absences and as such, students are expected to be in class for all culminating activities.
If satisfactory documentation of the illness is provided on the Missed Evaluation Form, the culminating activity may be rescheduled. Otherwise, the student will receive a mark of “0”.
Absence from a Final Examination:
Exam dates and times for all courses are set out in the exam schedule which has been distributed to students and parents/guardians. We are not able to accommodate any changes to the Exam Schedule or requests to write an exam at a date/time other than the scheduled date/time shown.
Students are urged to check their exam schedule carefully. If a student misses an exam because of misreading the schedule, the student will receive a mark of “0”.
In the event that a student is too ill to write a final exam, the parent/guardian must provide documentation of the illness. The parent/guardian is asked to contact the school before the Exam is written. The parent/guardian will be given the Lawrence Park CI ‘Missed Evaluation’ form to be completed by a medical doctor and submitted within two days of the missed exam.
Family vacations are not considered excused absences and as such, students are expected to be in attendance for all examinations.
If satisfactory documentation of the illness is provided on the missed evaluation form, an alternative evaluation may be scheduled. Students granted an alternative evaluation will receive a mark of “0” until they complete the alternative examination.
Late Arrivals During an Exam:
Each student is given a copy of the Exam Schedule at least two weeks before the examination. Punctuality is expected. Students who arrive late will be admitted to the exam up to one hour after the exam begins, but will not receive extra time.
Plagiarism/Academic Dishonesty:
Any student found copying from someone and/or in possession of notes or materials not permitted in the Exam Room will be deemed cheating. Electronic devices are not permitted in the exam room unless permission has been granted from the Vice-Principal (ie. electronic translation devices). Students using electronic devices during Exams to download or share information will be deemed to be cheating. This is a serious offence and may lead to a mark of “0”.
New!: Commencement Updates
Families who completed the waitlist for additional Commencement tickets should have received an email earlier this week. The absolute deadline to purchase tickets for those granted the limited number of extra seats we had available is Wednesday June 18. Please note: we will not be able to replace any lost or stolen tickets. The waitlist is now closed as all additional seats have been accounted for.
We are happy to announce that this year's ceremony will be live streamed for any friends and family who are unable to attend in person thanks to the support of Mr. Smith and our LPTV student volunteers. The link to view the full ceremony will be shared shortly.
Convocation Flowers will be selling bouquets at Commencement. To pre-order, please visit https://www.thecommencementgroup.com/lawrenceparkci/

Online
The LPAA website is up and running, but still a work in progress. You can find it at https://www.lpcialumni.com/. Perhaps the biggest initiative continues to be getting every Robur and commencement program uploaded to the site. Alumnus Nancy Hamparian has been the driver of the initiative, but with some encouragement from Principal Griesz, we now have about a dozen student volunteers working on website projects. Relevant to us, the 1979, 1980 and 1910 Roburs are online. 1982 and 1983 are in the works.
