Parents/Guardians: Please mark your calendars for our first School Council meeting on Monday, September 15. Details regarding the School Council Election are included below.
Important Reminder: Start-of-the-year forms were emailed to parents and guardians on Thursday, September 4, via Permission Click. It's crucial that these forms are completed annually for all students, so please take a moment to fill them out if you haven't already.
Finally, a huge shout-out to LP’s guidance team. Our counselors have been working hard to process course change requests. More information below. We appreciate your patience during this busy time.
As always, please reach out to us directly if there is something specific we can do to support your September transition back to school.

Students should download the TDSB Connects App from the App Store or Google Play (free of charge). The TDSB Connects App will give students access to their Timetables, the daily school calendar, announcements, the Student Handbook/Credo, and a fillable agenda to populate with their own assignments and events.
Student password reset information is included here.
Outstanding Textbooks and School Materials
Any unreturned textbooks, library books, or other loaned school materials should be returned to the Main Office as soon as possible. Thank you for your support in reducing the overall cost burden of replacing these valuable resources.
Code of Conduct
Administration will be conducting Assemblies to outline school expectations on Friday, September 12.
Students are expected to review the TDSB Code of Conduct and On-line Code of Conduct and abide by the rules and procedures outlined in those documents.
As we kick off the school year, let's all make a commitment to safety and respect. Please remember to treat one another with kindness, act with respect, and always prioritize making safe choices.
Cell Phones
Students in Grades 7 to 12: Personal mobile devices must be stored out of view and powered off or set to silent mode during instructional time, except when their use is explicitly permitted by the educator.
If the educator sees a personal mobile device that is not stored out of view, they must require the device be handed in for the instructional period and the device must be placed, by the student, in a storage area in a location in the classroom designated by the educator.
Please review the policy here.
Attendance
TDSB is offering a more efficient way for parents and caregivers to report all student absences, late arrivals, or future absences by using the School Messenger app. You can also report by calling the school messenger portal at 1-833-250-2290. All attendance being reported before 9:00AM must be done using School Messenger. You no longer need to call the school directly.
Attendance will be taken in each class. As always, student presence and active participation will lead to success.
Safe Arrivals calls home will be made during Period 1 for students who have not yet arrived at school. For lates and absences in Periods 2-4, Safe Arrivals calls will be made in the evening.
Please call the school office for all student absences or use the School Messenger App (more info in parent section of this newsletter). Students must sign out at the main office if they are leaving during school hours and must have permission from a parent/guardian if they are under 18 years old.
Calculator Policy
The Mathematics and Science Departments at Lawrence Park Collegiate have standardized the type of calculators used in their courses for the new school year. This is, in an effort, to create a consistent learning environment for all of our students and to facilitate applicable skill development. This is the only type of calculator permitted on the evaluations and exams. Students are responsible for purchasing this calculator prior to their first Mathematics and/or
Science class in September. If you have a financial hardship in getting this type of calculator or have difficulties with accessing or using this type of calculator, please speak directly to Mr. Ho, the ACL of Math. Please click here for more information on where this calculator can be purchased.

New!: School Council Elections 2025-2026 - September 15, 7:00PM, LPCI
School Councils are a great way for parents/guardians and caregivers to become engaged in the school. The purpose of the Council is “to improve student achievement and enhance the accountability of the education system to parents (Reg.612/2.1) through active parent engagement”. The first School Council meeting will be Monday, September 15 at 7pm (hybrid - in person and virtual - meeting link will be shared closer to the date).
Election of Council Parent/Guardian Representatives: All parents/guardians with children in our school are eligible to be elected for the school council. A person is not qualified to be a parent member of council if they are employed at the school or employed elsewhere by the Board, unless he or she takes reasonable steps to inform people qualified to vote in the election of parent members of that employment. The School Council consists mostly of elected parents or guardians. The Principal, Student and Staff representatives complete the council. Nomination forms (click on this link) are due no later than September 11, 2025. The list of candidates and brief biography will be posted on the school website under the School Council on September 12.
Elections Evening: Only parents/guardians of currently registered children attending LPCI can participate in the voting process. The elections shall be by secret ballot the evening of September 15, 7:00PM, at LPCI. Should only names be brought forward as many as vacancies, those individuals will be acclaimed. Successful candidates will be notified that evening and posted on the school website. For further information, please contact lorraine.sutherns@tdsb.on.ca.
