New!: Faculty of Languages -- International Exchanges
The TDSB is partnered with the International Student Exchange (ISE) which delivers an excellent program. In a previous EYE, we announced that the ISE presentation would take place on November 5th but that is Take your kids to work day so the date has been changed. A presenter will come to LP on November 18th to speak to the grade 9s and 10s. There will be a lunch time presentation in room 217 for those students who will be taking French in the second semester or for those who missed the in-class visit.
The ISE program is a reciprocal program offered to students of Ontario for exchanges during the academic year (9 weeks) and in the summer (3 weeks). The TDSB has agreed to the Host First exchange for grades 10 and 11. That means that the Canadian students host their exchange partners from late August for 9 weeks and their exchange partners attend your school for that period of time. The Canadian students then travel to their exchange partner’s home the following February for 9 weeks, and as well attend school there. Students are responsible for the work they will be missing while on exchange. The application process starts in March 2026 for the 26/27 exchange year and then matches are found for the destination of choice. Please see their website: https://iseontario.on.ca/ and/or contact rselick@rogers.com for more information.. Students host and travel during the same academic year.
New!: Faculty of Languages -- French contests and scholarship opportunities
The French teachers routinely advertise various French contests (essay, video, poetry, poster, public speaking, etc.) to their students. These opportunities not only contribute to increased skills and fluency, they also often lead to university bursaries, scholarships and expense-paid travel. For more information, please consult this link Concours national de rédaction and/or Mme Benais at marie-helene.benais@tdsb.on.ca
New!: Credit Rescue Day- Friday, November 7
Special Schedule for students and staff:
Period 1 – 9:00-9:40am
Period 2 – 9:45-10:30am
Period 3 – 10:35-11:15am
Period 4 – 11:20-12:00pm
Lunch – 12:00-1:00pm
Credit Rescue Schedule - 1:00pm - 3:15pm
This is an important opportunity for the classroom teacher to work with students who are underachieving at Midterm (eg. students under 60% depending on individual student circumstances). Classroom teachers will invite students, contact parents/guardians to arrange a time between 1:00-3:15pm, and also discuss location, and the expectations for the session. If there are scheduling conflicts between courses, it will be a collaborative effort between teacher, student and parent/guardian to arrange how the time will be spent.
New!: Marks Maintain After - Full Disclosure Date
The Full Disclosure Date when marks will remain on the student's transcript is Thursday November 20th, 2025. Courses need to be dropped prior to this date to not have the achievement mark on the transcript.
LPCI Field Project Update
As a result of feedback received from the community, and expressed interest in working to raise funds to contribute to a modified design option, TDSB will be proceeding with tendering two design options for the new LPCI field:
the original approved design, and
a modified option that includes a three-lane running track.
Preparing both designs will allow the TDSB to determine the precise cost difference between the two options. Preliminary estimates indicate that the modified design option with a three-lane track would cost approximately $1.1 million more than the original design. As the TDSB is not in a position to fund this additional amount, any cost difference would need to be covered through external donor contributions. School Council has begun preliminary discussions regarding the potential for a community-led fundraising effort in support of the project, as confirmation of funding would be needed by the end of January 2026 in order for the project to proceed as scheduled.
We appreciate the continued engagement and support of the Lawrence Park community throughout this process and will continue to share updates on the LPCI New Field FAQ webpage.
